The high tech PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition) process is a where a coating is deposited onto the jewellery by vaporising Zirconium Nitride (ZrN) by passing a high voltage current through the Zirconium compound emitter in a hot and high pressure kiln. The PVD coating is only a few microns thick but due to the way in which the molecules bond to the surface of the product it is very difficult to remove. Therefore the PVD coating process produces a product that is hard wearing and scratch resistant.
The durable low friction PVD coating is used in many applications from tooling, watches and F1 car engines to the medical arena. Gold coloured Zircon Steel and Zircon Titanium body jewellery is a great alternative to the more expensive, and less durable, gold plated jewellery.
You won’t be able to see a difference between a Zircon Steel and a Zircon Titanium product as the PVD coating is exactly the same on both. The only way you would be able to tell the difference is in the weight as titanium is lighter than steel in mass.Zircon Steel & Zircon Titanium body jewellery is bio-compatible and can be autoclaved to sterilise.
